【Kodomoen】 Growing Up…
The Tohoku region has started its rainy season.
It is said that sunny days are "good weather" and rainy days are "bad weather". When I see a child staring at the rain through the window, I wonder if that expression is correct.
I didn't like taking shelter from the rain, so I went home wet, even my bag was soaked. I went out without an umbrella and left it somewhere, even though it was raining. I would try to run around in the rain no matter where it was. And I always ended up being scolded.
The clothes I was wearing would change colours when exposed to the rain, and make dotted patterns. But that feeling of walking in puddles, and water seeping into your shoes, then later you take them off and you feel the cool air…
The joy of catching the rain or avoiding singular drops of rain…
This is a feeling you can only experience outside on rainy days…
Everything should be in moderation, even rainy days should be "good weather".
Growing up!
The tadpole in the room has sprouted legs, it's growing now thanks to the kindness of the children…
Growing up!!
The sweet potatoes we planted look like this now, very healthy!
They are growing!
The ally of justice who protects sweet potatoes has started a weeding operation…
As we continue with this operation, we are sure that there will be important things to learn. Communicating and working with fishermen and farmers, we believe we can change the childrens attitude towards food!
We found some grasshoppers, they're quite difficult to catch. I think I can see the children growing and learning new things here.
Growing up prefectly!
"It's going to rain tomorrow, so why do we go outside today?" the designer said.
Looking determined, the child said "I can't do it today" as she prepared crafting materials…
I was impressed by her amazing concentration…
Children are growing every day…
Designers watch over them as much as they can, and develop their skills. It's easy for them to reach out for help, but it takes perseverance to watch of them…
"I did it all by myself !" "Courteously" (までい), we will have to look after them.
*"までい" is dialect of the Tohoku region.
And it's precisely because designers are watching over them, so they can feel safe and play anywhere they like with peace of mind.
