【Event】Manabiya Yumenomori Opening Ceremony
Hello everyone.
On September 21st (Thursday), the opening ceremony of Okuma Manabiya Yumenomori was held.
We would like to take this opportunity to once again express our deepest gratitude to the many people who visited our school. I'm really thankful to you.
Now, let's take a look back at last week's impressive opening ceremony.
Our school is filled with the thoughts and dreams of many people. The opening ceremony is a once-in-a-lifetime event, and we want it to be a one-of-a-kind event that only we, gathered here, can do. With that in mind, preparations for the ceremony began. Our opening ceremony that we made, not one made with borrowed ideas. What is it that only we can do? Such discussions were repeated over and over again.
Even if it is clumsy, let's make it a ceremony where the children take centre stage.
The designers prepared the ceremony with each student in mind.
So, what was the content of the opening ceremony? It's an "original play."
On the day of the event, the children performed the play in front of Mr. Moriyama, the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, Mrs. Tsuchiya, the Minister of Reconstruction, and Mr. Yoshida, the Mayor of Okuma. The theme is "Being with everyone is fun."
The children carried out the ceremony while involving the audience in the play.
Children: "Let's build a boat!'' "This is our boat that can go anywhere!''
The children gathered chairs and supplies from around the school to build a boat and set off cheerfully in search of their own tomorrow.
At the end, the children and teachers sang the school song.
"Everyone was crying when it was over, and they were crying because they were happy that it went well, and I felt like crying too,'' said a ninth grade student.
"Despite the large crowd of people, it was amazing how confidently they performed. It was very moving to watch,'' said some emotional parents.
"I watched the process that the children and teachers worked on day in and day out, so I was really excited to see what they did today,'' said the vice principal.
The opening ceremony was a great success for everyone.
"Manabiya Yumenomori'' reopened for the first time in 12 years and set sail. Children will find their own future "together with everyone.'' The sight of these children seems to be a ray of hope for the town's recovery.
