【Report for June 15th】Energetic appearance
Yesterday in the rain, the 2nd and 3rd grade students set out to explore the town while singing.
Today, we put together a video while looking back on the expedition with gratitude to everyone who took care of them. Please take a look at their masterpieces.
This is a photo of work in progress. The serious gaze that is concentrating is wonderful!
We held a screening and had teachers, who were in the staff room, and 1st grade students come to see it.
On June 15th, we had our first storytelling session and book discussion since we came to Okuma. Kuma no Pocket, those who always look after us, came to our school.
During third period, we had a read-aloud session with Kodomoen children, up to 3rd grade. And during 4th period, it was the book discussion, in which 5th to 9th grade participated. In the storytelling session, we were surprised at how involved the children were getting. For more information, please see the Kodomoen article.
The book discussion during 4th period was more of an adult party as the only students there were in 8th grade. For the first time today, we introduced our favourite book, while also introducing ourselves. A wide variety of books were shown, such as picture books, comics, and novels.
Not only is it fun to learn about new books, but it's also very exciting when the books you bring match others choices. Someone brought in Yoshitake Shinsuke's book "なんだろうなんだろう" and got a lot of attention from otherrs who have read it!
Everyone is a reader when they pick up a book. Currently, we have a limited number of books due to space limitations, but the new school is going to be dreamlike where books are seen everywhere. In addition, Poplar's app "MottoSokka!" is also currrently being used to help. We want to continue to think about the environment and the creation of opportunities so that children can get closer to reading.
