【Daily record】 A little, quiet lunch break

Today at noon, 1st to 3rd grade students went to the town to distribute flyers. This is an invitation flyer to the opening ceremony, which will be held next week and will mainly be an exchange event with the local community. These handmade flyers are full of the children's creativity, using iPads or handwriting.

A must-have item when walking around town is a business card with a portrait on it. They have said hello to many people, but there are still many people they will meet in the future. Along the way, they also gave their business card to "Hi-chan" the "Konotehiba" tree, who they had become friends with while exploring the town. They would like to tell you about the flyer distribution again in tomorrow's note.

Hi-chan can only have their hearts

We are continuing to report on the play in this note to see how they're doing. We practice every morning, but today we got even more excited than usual because Mr. Sekiguchi, Yumenomori's super helper, came to school.

One scene from the play, which scene is it?
They're improving!

Practice continued throughout the morning and also during the second and third periods. During the second period, only the 9th grade students were in regular class, but they were drawn to the joyful theatrical voices of the children and designers coming from the library that they were memorizing the lines during class.

Mr. Sekiguchi and Mr. Kimura are necessary for the play

Through their exposure to theatre education, we learned that a script for a play does not end up with the same lines that were originally handed out. During rehearsal for the play we performed last year, we continued to refine our skills, and this time's performance has also changed in a positive direction since the first rehearsal. Not only were we moved by the way the play takes shape, through the energy of the children, but we were also amazed at the power of the dialogue, and how the events in the play can bring out sides of the children that they don't normally show.

This scene, everyone got together…?

As mentioned at the beginning, only 5th grade students and above will be in school during lunch break, as 1st to 3rd grade students will be out on field trips today. The school building is quieter than usual, so we don't see anyone around.

In the science room

The 5th grade students were cleaning the medaka fish tank in the science room.
Everyone who was studying in the town hall continue to work hard to take care of the medaka. The other day, a 5th grade student looked at the aquarium that had become green and cloudy, and said, "Even though I just washed it yesterday…" He was saddened and confused, but I think that's proof that he views caring for the medaka as his own responsibility. The medaka are swimming happily in the shiny, clean aquarium today.

In the gym and art studio

Lately, many students have been seen playing soccer in the gymnasium, but today only the two sixth grade students were there. We were originally planning to play baseball, but since we have extracurricular activities, we may not have enough people. Some of the teachers also participated, and they were able to play as pitchers and batters.
Also, when you look into the art studio, you can see children drawing pictures. In a normal school, we understand the idea that you wouldn't normally enter this special classroom outside of class, but we think it's great that at Yumenomori, you can use it as you wish without having to ask the designer.

We were worried about how everyone was doing because we couldn't find anyone, but we were happy that everyone was spending their lunch break how they wanted. How do you spend your free time? It may seem like a very small thing, but thinking about how to spend your lunch break may be an opportunity to demonstrate your self-management skills.
