【Report for May 29th】Evacuation drill

There were many earthquakes this month with intensity stronger than 4 on the scale. At the Community Welfare Center, which is currently used as a classroom for students up third grade, we conducted an evacuation drill, assuming an earthquake or potential fire.

The helmet we used is collapsible, its the same ones we used for the tour of the school the other day. Although the older students were quick to learn to use them, the younger students were still not used to it. Before the evacuation order was announced, we put our helmets on and prepared ourselves for the drill.

A fire department official who watched the evacuation drill told us that he was having trouble getting the helmets ready. It took some time for even an adult to understand the assembly. We would like to know how to use it so that it can be used smoothly during an emergency. The word "Okashimochi" (Don't push, run, talk, go back, or get close to danger) was discussed, and we practiced it. A handkerchief is a very effective item, not only for hygiene, but also for emergencies. We will make it a habit to have handkerchiefs available.

We would like to thank everyone at the Community Welfare Centre, and the Tomioka Fire Station staff for their cooperation today.

The second grade students put together some slides on what they learned from last week's town adventure. Before making the slides, one student was surprised that a nearby teacher couldn't answer the quiz he made, so he decided to make the slides in a quiz format. We were worried that entering characters would be a little difficult for the second grade students, but using voice input, they were easily able to type in full sentences using kanji. There was some difficulties when thinking about quizzes, choosing the photos, and making the slides, but they still did it.

In the first grade morals class, we searched for some good points of our friends. In order to get along with everyone, it is important to be able to clearly say what kind of good points someone has. We wrote good things about our friends on sticky notes, and gave them to each other. We had happy expressions when we collected all the sticky notes.

We feel that the ability to find the good in others is an important power as a person, regardless of our age. Since our school has a small number of students per class, we would like to take the time to carefully find the good points in our friends.
