Today is the first day back from Golden Week. It was raining, and it was cold, and we were worried that the children were feeling down. Although they were tired, they were able to do their best, and finish their first day back at school.

The tadpoles we saw before Golden week were swimming in the river today. When I saw them, it seemed they had grown legs, and had gotten bigger.

The students swung swords around, and ran around in interesting ways for a film we wanted to shoot.  A student was acting as the director, and had his friends and the teachers play out a story from an anime, but changed it a little. There is not set date for the release of the film, which is currently being edited by the children, but it surely will be very interesting.

Children's day, which is a national holiday during Golden week, is also known as Tango no Sekku (Boy's Festival). So we had kashiwa mochi for dessert at lunch time.

A third-year student said "If you drink milk with kashiwa leaves, it tastes like vanilla!". He had discovered a new taste sensation. They were able to eat sweet mochi, which they had not liked previously. This made us feel grateful.

It was going to be extremely hot and cold over the next few days, but the Kashiwa mochi made us full of energy.
